A film written by Jayne Steel & Juliet McKoen about sun, sand, seasonal working and sexual subterfuge.
Juliet McKoen has worked in the film and television industry since leaving York University. Trained firstly as a film editor, she went on to produce over 120 pieces of artist's film and video for C4, BBC2, and the Arts Council. Her own film work as a film artist has won awards at major international festivals and toured internationally with the ICA Biennale Arrows of Desire.
Recently Juliet shot Mavis and the Mermaid, a short film starring Eric Sykes and Sylvia Syms. It won the Kodak/Bafta Short Film Showcase Spring 2000 and was shown at Cannes in a Showcase of European New Talents and at the London, Edinburgh, Chicago and Uppsala International Film Festivals amongst many others. It recently won the Gold Special Jury Award at the Huston Worldfest.
Dr Jayne Steel was born in Liverpool and now lives in Lancashire where she lectures in English and Creative Writing at Lancaster University. She has a first class degree in English, an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing and a PhD in English.
Since completing a novel titled Sand Eels, Jayne has worked with Juliet McKoen as a screenwriter on Story of the Sands, Tide!, Mavis and the Mermaid, Mermaids and Money Troubles, Thereby Hangs a Tale and Frozen.
